New Years Resolution

Well we’ve made it to our 1 year anniversary as of 12/31 and had a great first year, we saw more patients and met more great new patients that I dreamed we could in our first year.

I have 2 new years resolutions with this business:

First  is to get more information out there for the growing base of patients we have through this website but also in making some videos of our practice as well as informational videos to help patients understand things at home that I educate them on in the office.

Second is to get even more new patients in here  for eye exams, we saw many patients that had not been seen for year and I know there are many more out there that would benefit from eye care.  I have a special agenda to get as many children in for eye exams as I can as I know this is one of the biggest under served areas in our community.

Stay tuned for more frequent updates and information!

Mission Accomplished!

As some of you are aware, I have been working towards a life goal for almost a year now.  In honesty this has been something I have unknowingly been working towards for years.  I set up this year to finish a full distance Ironman Triathlon.   This race consists of a 2.4 mile swim,  112 mile bike ride and a full marathon 26.2 miles.  Although training did not go 100% as expected I was able to not only finish but to exceed my own expectations.  When I signed up for this process back in October of 2015 I promised my wife the training would not take away from family time or detract from my work on our new business.  As we headed up to the race with some other local athletes I decided my goal was just to finish.  I ended up surpassing my expectations and finished in a time of 14 hours 10 minutes 35 seconds.  Having never ridden my bike more than 80 miles before and having never run more than 18 miles I was amazed at how a good plan and the perfect execution of that plan could make something like that happen.  It sounds strange but doing something like that can really change perspective on life.  Accomplishing something that I would have said was impossible not long ago with hard work, dedication and a little luck makes me realize that almost anything is possible when you put your mind to it.  It is a little scary because like with most things that have a huge potential reward there is a high risk of failure but I also know that with failure comes lots of learning and a whole different perspective.  One of the athletes I went up to the race with did not finish (it was his first attempt as well) and he is devastated.  He worked hundreds if not thousands of hours towards that goal and did not obtain it but what did he do, he signed up for next years race the day after he got home writing to us “So I pulled the trigger, July 23, 2017….I have some unfinished business….”   If you can’t learn and grow from an experience then you’re not looking at it the right way.   Thanks for reading, ask me about it next time you’re in the exam room!

As some of you already know we are credentialed providers for most major health insurances but some of you may not realize we are a provider for Medicaid as well.  We provide not only annual health exams for adults and children but offer a wide selection of frames that are fully covered by your insurance.  If you haven’t had an exam recently schedule one today!  Don’t forget to schedule one for your children as well!

Doors open!

We’re sooo excited to finally have our doors open for regular business.  We have been thrilled with the number of people interested and how the word has been spreading.  It’s so great to have patients come in and say how they overhear other people talking about our practice opening up.  We have held off advertising so far mostly because we have had more demand that we anticipated but will be getting more info out there soon.  One other issue is we have been understaffed for the amount of patients; we did not expect so much interest so soon.  We have finally found our first employee (other than my wife Andrea) Hayley will be starting with us this Tuesday and we will get a picture of her and Andrea up on the site next week so you can all see the faces of the people you will see at the office before you come in.  More to come….hopefully soon.

Opening Day Approaches

Although our struggles with permitting, power etc. have been ongoing now for months our opening day still looks good before year end.  We do not yet have a firm date because our permanent power is not yet hooked up but they say it will be on by the 21st.  If all now goes according to plan,  we will be open just after Christmas.  The cable for internet connectivity has to wait until after the power is hooked up, if necessary I’m sure we can make something else happen.   My biggest frustration is I though well before this time we would be able to at least begin scheduling but the uncertainty of everything has made that impossible.  I’ll try to keep you updated.

Overdue Update

It has been too long since I have updated here, I know there are some of you looking at the website and I appreciate that.  I have been keeping the Facebook page more updated than this page so if you want to like our page look for a link on the website and that should give you the most updated info.  I will try harder to keep this updated as well.  I am going in to update the insurance information right after I finish this.  We have been getting a lot of questions about that and hopefully that helps.

I also wanted to update our timeline here, I will do so in other places on the website as well.  Our date for getting the space turned over to us has been pushed out and is now at 12/15/15.  We are hopeful that we do not need too much time after that to start seeing patients but realistically if we do get the space then I am sure we will need a week.  This as you know is a bad time of year with getting things done but I will do my best!  I really need to be seeing patients there before the end of the year.  If you are in need of an appointment before the end of the year send us an e-mail or give us a call.  If we don’t answer please leave a message, we are making a list of patients to call once we are scheduling.  We appreciate your patience and hope to see you soon!

Update 9/18/2015

It has been far too long since I have written here!  The walls and roof are up.  The shingles are on and they have poured the sidewalk.  The gravel base and other substrates are set, leveled and compacted for the parking lot.  I hear from the builder that they are planning on beginning to run the underground plumbing Monday.  Things continue to move forward and out hopes continue to be that we will open around 12/1 though I would be happy if we hit 12/15 at this point.  We have been delayed by many many issues and people.  Sometimes it feels like we just can’t catch a break but I know we will make this work.  I am sooo looking forward to getting the front door open and making this something that I am proud of.

Thanks to all who take interest in this and have taken the time to read it I will try to be more diligent about writing.  Please send me questions or comments directly to or visit our facebook page where I have been much better about keeping things updated.

Walls and Roof

Walls came in pre-fabricated sections arrived on Tuesday evening and were assembled Wednesday A.M. before lunch.  Pretty impressive, they appear to be constructed well, 2×6 construction.

Roof went up Thursday taking a good part of the day but with the sections being so large it looked a little precarious at times.  Pretty impressive for this to go from foundation to looking like a real building in only 2 days!  Excited to see some roofing and windows soon.

Walls went up in 4 hours total.

Roof up yesterday took a good part of the day.

Foundation Finished – Prepping for walls to go up soon!

Another update on the status of the building.  Things have been moving fairly quickly the last few weeks and the foundation is finished, the drainage around the building is finished, they have the parking lot graded and are spreading gravel to get that up to finish grade.  The large cement blocks inside the foundation will be used to support the pre-fabricated walls which will be arriving on site tomorrow along with the pre-fabricated roof trusses.  We should be looking like a building towards the end of this coming week.  I just wanted to say thanks here for all of the people that have reached out to me already, it is great and truly amazing to see the amount of support and effort that people have taken not only to find me but to send me messages wishing me good luck.  I feel truly blessed to live in a community with so many caring families.  I can’t wait to get this project wrapped up so I can start seeing many of you again, you have been missed and will always be appreciated.  Thanks for your support and I look forward to much more in the future.  Thanks again!

Please free to e-mail me directly I run this website as well as my Facebook, twitter and google+ pages.  I’d love to hear from you and hope to help and see you in the future.
